Attorney Leonard F. Spagnolo
Attorney Len Spagnolo is a Partner of Bentz Law Firm, P.C. He joined the Firm after a seventeen year career at one of the largest law firms in Pittsburgh where he began, and as a Senior Partner chaired, its bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice.
Len devotes his practice to counseling and representing a wide variety of individuals, businesses and organizations in the areas of contracts, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights, workouts, commercial litigation, commercial and business transactions and dispute resolution.
Over the past 24 years, Len has represented individual and institutional creditors, creditors’ committees, debtors, guarantors, purchasers and sellers of businesses, shareholders, surety companies, insurance companies, hospitals and health systems, state and federal government agencies, manufacturers, a co-owner of a National Hockey League Team, public utilities, the largest auctioneer of industrial equipment in the U.S., equipment lessors, real estate lessors, commercial real estate developers and various churches.
Len has handled over 3,500 bankruptcy and creditors’ rights cases in virtually every bankruptcy jurisdiction in the United States, including the following bankruptcy cases: The Pittsburgh Penguins National Hockey League Team; Pittsburgh Corning; Mid Valley et al. (Halliburton); U.S. Gypsum; U.S. Airways; Sargent Electric; Mon View Mining Company; and LTV Steel. Len’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights practice includes the representation of virtually every type of player in bankruptcy and creditors’ rights cases.
Len is a summa cum laude graduate of Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington), where he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review. After law school, Len served as the first judicial law clerk for the Honorable Warren W. Bentz, United States Bankruptcy Judge, and former Chief Bankruptcy Judge, for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Len has an AV Rating from Martindale. He is a member of the Commercial Law League of America, and presents continuing education courses to lawyers and business professionals. He has also evaluated, for the Pennsylvania Bar Association Certification and Review Committee, written examinations used to certify attorneys in the areas of business bankruptcy, consumer bankruptcy and creditors’ rights law. Len also serves as a faculty member of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
